Dear Messy Friends,

We have reached the season of lent, where we remember Jesus going into
the wilderness and being tempted, with angels sent to help him.
Sometimes we find it difficult to do the right things, whether it is
speaking out against people who are being nasty, loving people who are
hard to love, saying sorry when we have done wrong, and forgiving people
when they have hurt us. Like Jesus, we can ask for God’s help to send
angels to help up.

This month we are looking at the story of the unforgiving servant. A
servant owed his master some money, but he could not pay it back. The
master forgave the servant, and said he did not have to pay him back.
Another man owed that servant money, but he was not so kind, and sent
the man to jail. When his master found out, he put the servant in jail.
“This king did what my heavenly Father will do to you if you do not
forgive your brother from your heart.”
(International Children’s Bible, Matthew 18: v 35)
If we love, we must therefore also unconditionally forgive if it is
asked of us.

Our Messy Church this month is on Saturday 11th March at 11 am. We’re
going to be learning about forgiveness, how to forgive each other, and
how God forgives us when we do wrong things. We will be writing prayers
to say sorry and shredding them, navigating around an obstacle course,
breaking biscuits and junk modelling a jail cell. We will then spend
some time in worship discussing the story and singing about our Great
Big God. We’ll then share in a yummy lunch of pizza and cake!

We hope we can see you there!

Messy blessings
