Dear Messy Friends

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you’ve all had a joyful Christmas
time, and are heading into the New Year refreshed, revitalised and
raring to go! We’re really excited about the amazing things this year
may bring.

We’re going to talking about Samuel at this month’s Messy Church.
Samuel’s mum, Hannah, gave him to God, where he worked at the Temple.
Two times, he heard a God’s voice, but didn’t realise who it was talking
to him.
“Then God came and stood before him exactly as before, calling out,
‘Samuel! Samuel!’. Samuel answered, ‘Speak. I’m your servant, ready to
listen.’”
(1 Samuel 3:10, The Message)
It’s really difficult to know when God is talking to us, as often we
aren’t expecting it. When we do, are we ready to say like Samuel “I’m
your servant, ready to listen”? What if God tells us things we don’t
want to hear?

This month’s Messy Church is on Saturday 14th January at 11 am. Thinking
through the story of Samuel in the Temple, we will be building a junk
temple, playing Jenga, and making a megaphone. We’ll then go in to
church for a time of worship where we’ll talk and sing about prayer
being a telephone to God, before sharing in a yummy lunch together.

We hope to see you there!

Messy blessings
