Playgroup’s Christmas Journey
This week the church was magically transformed into several interactive scenes from the nativity forming the Christmas Journey. On Friday Playgroup got the chance to experience it for themselves.
At the start of their journey the children met Mary baking bread and were visited by the Angel Gabriel. They saw where the shepherds tended to their sheep, listened to the animals watching over baby Jesus in the stable and ended their journey finding out about the gifts the wise men had for the new baby.

Playgroup preschool places available
Horfield Methodist Playgroup has currently has spaces for children ages between 2 1/2 and 5. If you are interested in a place or would like to find out more please contact us on 07903 350214 (between 8:30am – 12pm, Monday to Friday) or email playgroup@horfieldmethodist.org.uk
The Christmas Journey 2016
We are running the Christmas Journey Open Day at Horfield Methodist Church on Saturday 10th December 2016, instead of our normal Messy Church.
The Christmas Journey is an interactive, multi-media, multi-sensory exploration of the Christmas Story involving drama, music and story telling.
We are running the journey in groups from 9.30 am, each journey taking around 30 minutes. There are also craft activities to do before and after your journey.
If you would like to join us on the Journey, please email us on messy@horfieldmethodist.org.uk to book a place. Journeys will take place at the following times: 9.30, 9.45, 10.45, 11.00, 12noon, 12.15, 2.00 and 2.15
There will also be some places available on the day.

Remembrance Day 2016
One the Sunday 13th December, we joined with people all over the country at 11 am to sit in silence and remember those that died in war, those that war affected and those places that war is not just history, but is happening now.
Our Junior Church made a wreath to place on our memorial plaques, learning about why we use the poppy to remember those fallen in war. One of our church members also embroidered the verse from the famous poem For the Fallen by Robert Binyon:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
