Remembrance Day 2016

One the Sunday 13th December, we joined with people all over the country at 11 am to sit in silence and remember those that died in war, those that war affected and those places that war is not just history, but is happening now.

Our Junior Church made a wreath to place on our memorial plaques, learning about why we use the poppy to remember those fallen in war. One of our church members also embroidered the verse from the famous poem For the Fallen by Robert Binyon:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Church Camp 2016

This year for church camp we stayed at Beeches Farm Campsite in the Wye Valley. There were 25 of us, and we had some great weather to share our fellowship together. Friday evening, we had a great dinner of Fish and Chips after setting up our tents. The next morning, we had a yummy breakfast of sausages and egg butties, then went for a walk from the campsite to Tintern Abbey along the River Wye.

After lunch at the Abbey, we went went back to the campsite for a barbeque and camp fire, with songs led by Dan, before toasting some marshmallows.

On Sunday morning we all shared in a time of worship, where we talked about Mary and Martha and how we can show hospitality.

We all had a fun time, helped by the sunshine and the company!
