Church Interior We are a family based Church with a strong emphasis upon prayer, Bible understanding and youth work. We are keen to explore and share what it means to be the people of God in our place and time.

Recently, exploration and review of our mission has led us into new activities, a renewed vision, and a commitment to provide upgraded, suitable and appropriate facilities for all ages and needs.

We are a Church within the Bristol North Methodist Circuit, committed to working with our fellow Circuit Churches and local ecumenical neighbours.

The Church and some meeting rooms are equipped with the loop system. There are also large print books and a braille hymn book for those of impaired sight.

Everybody is very welcome at Horfield Methodist Church - whatever their background. If you are new to our Church or just visiting please introduce yourself to the Minister or one of the Stewards.

Our Minister - Rev. Peter B. Mortlock B.A., Dip.Theol.

Rev Peter Mortlock Peter originally worked for London County Council & Hackney Borough Council in their Welfare Departments. He trained for the Ministry at Richmond College, London and has served in Goole (Yorkshire), Aylesbury, and Birmingham South West Circuits. He was Superintendent Minister of Tamworth and Lichfield, and Coventry Circuits, and is now Superintendent of Bristol North Circuit. He was Vice Chair of Focus Housing Group, West Midlands, for ten years, and is currently Chair of the national charity - Methodist Homes, and he is the Secretary of the Bristol District Policy Committee for the Methodist Church.

Peter preaching Peter is married to Margaret, the Circuit local preacher tutor, member of the Connexional Studies Board and also of the Local Preachers examination panel. They have three adult sons, and a beautiful grand-daughter! Peter's particular interests are classical and church music (singing especially!); he is an avid reader (including history and modern fiction); and a keen philatelist (stamps always wanted and sorted for Leprosy Mission), and also a life-long follower of Colchester United!

Junior Church

We have three Junior Church groups who meet during the 10.00am service, plus a creche for the under 4's.

Creche - for our smallest members aged under 4 there are lots of toys and games. Parents can stay with their children and listen to the service through the loudspeaker system.

Beginners - our younger members aged 4 to 7 learn about God and his love for us by singing songs, listening to stories, drawing pictures and creating collages.

Juniors - aged 7 to 11 explore the Bible and learn how we can apply its teaching in our everyday lives by playing games, doing quizzes and drama, plus lots of arts and crafts.

Seniors - our older members aged over 11 meet in their own Seniors' room and explore the Christian faith and its relevance to 21st Century life through discussions, readings and drama.

House Groups

We have several housegroups. They have varying numbers of members and meet at different times.

If you are interested in joining a House Group please contact the Minister
